Grammy Award-winning band Halestorm has premiered the music video for their new single I Am The Fire via Vices NOISEY, who raved that Halestorms not-so-secret weapon is Lzzy Hale, a vocalist-slash-guitarist who unapologetically holds fast to her own destiny and her own sexuality, worshipping at the blood- and whiskey-stained altars of Joan Jett and Janis Joplin while she vamps on a double-necked guitar like Lita Ford.
I Am The Fire is the third single from Halestorms critically acclaimed third studio album INTO THE WILD LIFE, which was released in April this year. The first two singles Apocalyptic and Amen both No. 1 at active rock radio, the former marking the first time a female-fronted band has scored No. 1 hits at the format three times as well as the first to have No. 1 songs from two consecutive albums.
Halestorm formed in York, Pennsylvania in 1998 while in middle school, Lzzy Hale (lead vocals, rhythm guitar) and her brother Arejay Hale (drums, percussion), which now includes Joe Hottinger (lead guitar, backing vocals) and Josh Smith (bass, backing vocals). Lzzy grew up no more than a stones throw away from another famous Pennsylvanian, Taylor Swift, as her family probably bought a few trees from Swift family's Christmas Tree Farm over the years. That's where the similarities end. Halestom is a hard rock band that was singed to Atlantic Records a few years ago and has just released (April 2009) their first self-titled major label record.
