Aretha Franklin passed away today on Thursday, August 16, 2018, at the age of 76 at her home in Detroit. Her family and friends were at her side at the time of death. Aretha Franklin has been fighting pancreatic cancer.

We pray for the R&B Soul Musical Legend who has brought the world love, advocacy, and respect through her music. Aretha Louise Franklin (March 25,) 1942  August 16, 2018)

The career began back in 1960 as a singer at her father's church. Recording her first Gospel album still as a teen at the age of 14. She was a rising singer who sang with power and intensity. She leaves us such music as "Respect" which was on the charts for months. Other songs we all know are "Pink Cadillac," "Natural Woman," "Amazing Grace," "Rock Steady," and so many more. She took more than twenty Grammys Awards and so many other awards.

As an actress, she starred in the Blues Brothers as the wife of Matt "Guitar" Murphy which made us all laugh.

Aretha Franklin was the first woman to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Her inductee performance was attended by President Clinton. Other presidential honors she had were on November 9, 2005, President George Bush honored Aretha Franklin with the Presidential Medal of Freedom. On January 20, 2009, she sang at President Barach Obama's inauguration ceremony. Today President Donald Trump said on Twitter about Franklin, "a wonderful gift from God."
