Jonathan Davis Bus Trip and Thoughts

"I like being on the bus--it triggers me to write", says KORN frontman JONATHAN DAVIS, just back from three weeks in a tour bus. There were no KORN gigs along the way on this trip; DAVIS wanted to get away from the familiar surroundings of Los Angeles and open up his head--you know, get the shit out--while on the road.

"I’m writing about what’s going on in my life right now. I can really open up and look inside myself when I get out of my home element. Being on the road helps". The experience paid off, as DAVIS came up with an array of lyrics and melodies for the music that he and his KORN bandmates--guitarists MUNKY and HEAD, bassist FIELDY and drummer DAVID SILVERIA--initially laid down. The results will be on KORN’s self-produced forthcoming album, due later this year, with DAVIS citing a more raw approach--it sounds brutal and very heavy.

Arizona, Texas, Louisiana and Florida were all stops along DAVIS’ tour of America. While in Florida, DAVIS went fishing and, for the first time, hunting. "I shot a boar hog. I gutted it and kept the head, which I’m putting in my office. I gave the meat away to the people at the ranch where we were staying. Hunting cleared my mind. I don’t know why, it just did".

DAVIS will get back on the bus in late June, this time for KORN’s summer concert tour. They’re on the mainstage on this summer’s Ozzfest starting June 28 in San Antonio and wrapping August 28 in West Palm Beach. Along the way, KORN will be headlining a series of off dates.
