Beth Hart beats into Chicago

April 24, 2005, The Vic Theatre, Chicago, IL, USA

Beth Hart beats into Chicago Have you ever gone to a concert and when you were in your car driving home you could still feel the voice of the singer pounding inside your brain? Beth Hart has that awesome affect. At the sold-out Vic Theatre, the crowd witnessed only a two-piece band featuring Beth and her guitarist Jon Nichols. But that was all she really needed. In fact, it almost felt like her drummer and bassist were on stage as Beth played guitar and then switched to her keyboard every few songs. Her voice can be as free as a butterfly fluttering its wings, and then suddenly as strong as a power drill breaking up cement. With each lyric she sings she forces you to travel into the journey of each her songs. She performed her smash hit from a few years ago, L.A. Song but other favorites included Money Back, Leave The Light On, and Get Your Shit Together. Many compare her vocals to that of legendary Janis Joplin, but I think Rob Thomas summed it up to the tee calling Beth a true "National Treasure". Check out the new DVD release called "Beth Hart: Live at Paradiso" and you also might find a delicious surprise.
