Talking Heads were always the oddball group, lacking any immediate resemblance to the other groups that anchored the CBGBs music scene in the seventies. However, like Blondie, they did stand out and develop beyond the limitations of the three-chord punk rock many of their contemporaries were playing at that time. I dont really like Talking Heads or the music of eccentric singer David Byrne, but I do like Remain in Light. Its unconventional integration of African rhythms and Brian Eno type ambience, makes for one of the most distinctive records Ive ever heard.
Favorite Cuts: "Born Under Punches (The Heat Goes On)", "Crosseyed and Painless" and "Once in a Lifetime".
