Green Day

American Idiot Review by Jenna Robins

American Idiot is Green Day's 9th album, and also their most successful, beating 1994's Dookie in the billboard charts. American Idiot received 7 Grammy nominations including Best Album, and walked away with Best Rock Album, which they definitely deserved.

In American Idiot, Green Day have taken Punk Rock to a new level with two 9 minute rock operas: Jesus of Suburbia and Homecoming. The lyrics in all of the songs in this album are powerful, especially in Holiday, a song that Billie Joe wrote about his feelings towards the war in Iraq. Another powerful song is Wake Me Up When September Ends. It is a song about the death of Billie Joe's father and a tribute to Joey Ramone.

Following 1997's Good Riddance (Time of your Life), Give me Novicane Featured in an episode on the hit TV show ER.

I’m hoping like a lot of Green Day fans that they will continue recording great albums and touring. This album has proven that after 15 years they are still one of the best punk rock bands around

My Favourite songs on the Album: Jesus of Suburbia, American Idiot, Boulevard of Broken Dreams, Holiday and Wake Me Up When September Ends.
