I enjoyed seeing this movie updated in 1080p Blu-ray. The picture quality is a bit grainy and the definition isn't as crisp as I thought it could have been but, it is a definite upgrade to the standard definition DVD. The audio is good too in Dolby TrueHD 5.1 but again I was expecting more. Perhaps I have been spoiled by recent offerings in the Blu-ray format. I do realize that the movie is over thirty years old but, I felt that Grease on Blu-ray looked and sounded better. However, this is still a good representation of how older movies can be brought back to life and it is good to see the studios diving into their archives and bringing out the classics. I also found it refreshing seeing a movie that was based on characters and not effects. The dancing is a big part of the story but the characters lives and why they are at the clubs really captivates your interest, no matter how dysfunctional they may be.

I think this movie being a classic is definitely worthy of an upgrade to your collection. While I was expecting more in terms of quality especially in the audio mix I did find it enjoyable and will appreciate the Blu-ray format the next I revisit this classic. |
