Eagle Eye Eagle Eye [Blu-ray]

Executive Producer Steven Spielberg delivers the ultimate race-against-time thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat! Shia LaBeouf (Transformers) and Michelle Monaghan (Mission: Impossible III) star as strangers ripped from their ordinary lives when they are “activated” as part or a high-tech assassination plot. Through blistering chases and shocking twists they try to escape – but where do you go when the enemy is everywhere?

This thriller throws you right into the action and is very intriguing how the “voice” is always one step ahead of Jerry and Rachel ( LaBeouf and Monighan). For the first half of the movie the flow is very strong but, as the story becomes clearer, it falls short. The action sequences are excellent and the chase scenes really are a visual roller coaster. The chemistry between LaBeouf and Monighan is very believable and flows well with the story. Rosario Dawson and Billy Bob Thornton turn in strong supporting roles and are cast perfectly for the characters they are portraying. The action scenes are really what sells this movie and makes it above average but really the story is recycled from War Games the early 80’s hit starring Matthew Broderick and Ally Sheedy.. When War Games came out back in the early 80’s it was interesting how the computer technology was introduced and really intrigued everyone. With Eagle Eye the technological advances aren’t as far fetched as perhaps even a decade ago. With cameras everywhere these days people are more skeptical as to what is believable and what isn’t.

The Blu-ray version of this movie has excellent detail and the shadow depth is very noticeable in the action scenes as well as the detail in the darker scenes. There is a filter on the film that gives a cooler and specialized look that is unique and sets this apart from other films in this genre. The Dolby TrueHD audio proves to be one of the highlights of this movie. You get a feel of being in the action with a very believable and dynamic surround sound and the voices come through perfectly clean from the center channel. Although there isn’t a commentary track, there are some very insightful bonus features such as the Making of Eagle Eye and the discussion in Shall We Play a Game?

Bonus Features:

  • (HD) 3 Deleted scenes and an alternate ending
  • (HD) Asymmetrical warfare: Making of Eagle Eye
  • (HD) Eagle Eye on Location: Washington DC
  • (HD) Is my cell phone spying on me?
  • (HD) Shall we play a game?
  • (HD) Gag Reel
  • (HD) Road Trip
  • Photo Gallery
  • (HD) Theatrical trailer

It seems that every movie lately has Shia LaBeouf starring in it. He is very likeable and really helps sell this movie. Between his on-screen chemistry with Michelle Monaghan, and the stellar action sequences, Eagle Eye delivers a better than average movie. I would recommend renting Eagle Eye or catching it on cable if you haven’t seen it already. If you did catch it at the movies and enjoyed it, you won’t be disappointed with the quality of this Blu-ray.
