Iron Maiden -- Somewhere Back In Time - The Best of: 1980-1989With more than three decades and over 100-million records sold under their belts, it's been one hell of a ride for the London-based metal band Iron Maiden. And much to the delight of fans, it's a ride that's far from over. 2008 marks the release of Somewhere Back In Time - The Best of: 1980-1989 in addition to kicking off a new worldwide tour.

With a plethora of more gold and platinum records than you could shake a guitar at, Iron Maiden had become a major player in heavy metal very early on in their career. Through the years, the band has endured both personnel changes and band breaks, and still they've broadened their musical horizons by putting out both standard and concept albums -- both of which immensely popular, they've toured relentlessly, and are considered by many one of the most important bands in rock and roll.

And the band has got "Eddie" -- the best-known mascot in all of heavy metal. Just to name a few - Motley Crue has Alister Fiend, Megadeth's followers have their Vic Rattlehead, and Helloween's got Jack O. Lantern - but everyone into metal undoubtedly knows who Eddie is.

The songs on Somewhere Back In Time - The Best of: 1980-1989 were perfectly chosen -- as if walking through the "Iron Maiden Hall" in a rock and roll museum -- these are the songs you'd hear representing exactly what this band is all about, where they've been, and how they've evolved.

Tracks include:

  1. Churchill Speech
  2. Aces High (live)
  3. Minutes To Midnight
  4. The Trooper
  5. Wasted Years
  6. Children Of The Damned
  7. The Number of The Beast
  8. Run To The Hills
  9. Phantom Of The Opera (live)
  10. The Evil That Men Do
  11. Wrathchild (live)
  12. Can I Play With Madness
  13. Powerslave
  14. Hallowed Be Thy Name
  15. Iron Maiden (live)

Maiden's 'Somewhere Back in Time World Tour 2008' kicked off in India, then moved through Australia, Japan, and South America before finding its way here to the U.S. -- where it's making its way from coast to coast and hitting Canada in-between. Then at the end of June they'll head over to conquer Europe as well.

Iron Maiden will be playing in Chicago on June 11, 2008 at the Allstate Arena.
