"Tell your friends all around the world/ there ain't no companion like a blue-eyed Merle" (Led Zeppelin, "Bron-Y-Aur Stomp")

After a growing buzz on the road in 2004 with Marc Broussard, Jem and appearances at Farm Aid and Bonnaroo, Island recording group Blue Merle released their debut album, BURNING IN THE SUN this past February.  The band has continued to tour steadily having already joined Donovan Frankenreiter , Graham Colton and most recently Glen Phillips on the road as the supporting act.  With solid touring under their belt Blue Merle is now set to kick off a headline tour in May. In addition, Blue Merle has once again been invited to perform at the prestigious Bonnaroo Music Festival on June 11 th in Manchester, TN alongside Jack Johnson, Alison Krauss, Mars Volta, Kings of Leon, Ray LaMontagne and many other critically acclaimed acts. The band will also join the Dave Matthews Band on tour for select dates and will be at this year's Lollapalooza Festival in Chicago. (Complete itinerary below)

"Burning In the Sun," the album's title tune and first single, continues its run at AAA radio alongside super groups U2, and Green Day.  The track has been in the top 5 for over two months. While "Burning" remains high on the radio chart, the band will also release their second single, "Lucky To Know You" to the format. In addition, television has been extremely supportive of the band.   "Burning in the Sun"  was featured on North Shore (FOX network) while the standout track "Every Ship Must Sail Away" was  showcased on the WB hit program One Tree Hill . The promotional video for "Burning In the Sun" premiered on FUSE and Jane magazine ran a 4-page feature on the making of the video.  In addition, the band will make it's national television debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live (ABC) on April 26 th .

BURNING IN THE SUN , was produced by Stephen Harris, who has worked with U2, Dave Matthews, Kula Shaker, Ben Kweller and others.  Harris was impressed by the understated yet impactful feeling of the band's music. Harris noted, "And that's the whole thing with Blue Merle - they have subtlety, which is beyond many people these days."

Early critical tastemaker support has started an organic following for Blue Merle . According to the Nashville City Paper , "They take their name from a lyric contained within a Led Zeppelin song, and their members come from as far away as Hawaii and Vermont as well as Nashville . But Blue Merle has made its mark on the acoustic music world in just over three years through its combination of musical acumen, compositional savvy and performance brilliance."
