Editorial Review.
James and the Giant Peach... What creativity. Tim Burton knows how to bring the something happy and special at the worst moment. I love and hate Burton's movies. They tend to be dark but very innovative, creative and in the end start with tragedy and end with a happy story. In James and the Giant Peach its starts out with a happy family scene, the parents telling James they will visit one of the greatest cities in the world. James is excited and asks, "Will there be children?" His dad replies, "Many children." Then things turn for the worse, as mom and dad are eaten by a giant rhino. That is some creativity. Well the rest of the story is kind of like Cinderella, you have James who has to live with his two aunts that mistreat him terribly. James believes that good things do happen (plus he has somewhat of a fariy godfather). A peach grows in the barren hill where he lives with his ugly and terrible aunts. It grows to a size of the house. The aunts get excited with prospect of wealth from the peach, but one night James tastes the peach and good things begin to happen.

The beauty of the DVD/Blu-ray pack is that you get both discs. If you have a HD television you will love this movie in either format. The Blu-ray experience is so much more than the regular DVD, even on the cheaper systems. The colors just come out and and yes, larger the television the better the experience. Just don't overspend.

A whole or doorway opens into the peach and James climbs in... during the scene the magic of Burton again takes place as James transforms from a boy to an animated character. I loved this scene and the vision that is created by Burton. Throughout the movie, Burton takes us on many other animated and live mixtures of scenes that are just wonderful. James meets a lot of giant insects with similar thought to get away from the aunts. But where do you go? James remembers his parents and tells them about this great city, so the crew takes on the journey, through land, ocean and air to escape the evil aunts. But you know they are not far behind, their money making peach, which dropped from the tree, which the aunts want to recover.

In the end the story is heartwarming. However, we are still left with an orphan, which is also very heart breaking.
