The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning

If this keeps up they will ultimately make a movie of someone being tortured for the whole movie. Why not just do away with any plot? I liked the music by Steve Jablonsky. The score did a lot to enhance the mood of this movie. The cast is quite good given what they are given to work with. The special effects are even more violent, realistic, and gory than before, and the photography is adequate for the task at hand. When I sat down to watch the movie I asked myself what are they going to do that hasn't been done before in this particular series. The answer is apparently nothing at all. The movie looks good and the cast rises to the task, but since we have seen this scenario before, the plot is just not that interesting besides watch the teenagers run from the guy with an ax. This movie was not any fun, and the source of the scares mainly comes from all the gore, not because of the plot or the characters. Maybe this particular idea has run it's course if this is the best that can be done with it. How many times can you make the exact same film over again? How many times can you watch a variation on what was a very limited plot to begin with? R. Lee Ermey (of Steel Metal Jacket fame) returns for a nice light touch. You also get the impression that Jordana Brewster might be someone to keep an eye on if she is given a role to with a little meat on it.
