Inside UnRated This little movie, known as À l'intérieur in French, is a true horror movie. The plot is about pregnant woman's last night before she is due at the hospital, when she is attacked at her home by an unknown woman. We don't know who is attacking her, and we don't know why. The plot is actually a little more complicated than this, but I will leave it to you to discover the specifics for yourself. The movie plays into a lot of typical fears people have, and it does not bang you over the head with them. The movie takes its good sweet time, and it gets under your skin. It really creeps you out.
The number of really good horror movies is not a huge one. Inside reminded me of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre in that it is not a lot of fun. Inside is a grim movie. Inside is also a gory movie. The damn thing works though, and very well. Rob Zombie are you listening? The movie sticks close to the main plot. It never gets caught up on side issues or plots that don't really add anything to the storyline. In its way it is a quite little movie. There are not a lot of huge sets or really complicated special effects. It lets the tension build slowly. The movie is very well paced, and it has a good script, though it isn't filled up with a lot of boring dialogue. There are long stretches where there is no dialogue at all. The only time Inside tips its hand too far is on a few of the gore scenes, but this is a minor complaint. Also the characters don't really feel fleshed out all that well. We don't feel like we know the main characters, but despite this the movie works. For a horror movie, this kicks ass. Inside also does not go for a safe nice typical Hollywood ending. It stays with an ending that is true to the material. This is not a movie for the young ones. This is movie for adults that either want to see a really scary movie, a gory one or both.
